Making BIG Moves In Your Doula Business

Welcome to doula tips and tips. This podcast is a place where we answer one question about doula work, both to support you and to help you support your clients. I'm Kaylee Harrod. I've been supporting families in this perinatal space since my oldest was born, 12, nearly 13 years ago.

I am a birth and postpartum doula childbirth educator, La Leche League leader, and a doula coach. I love guiding and supporting doulas as they work out their doula business. It is a tremendous joy to be trusted in this way.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. Welcome back to doula tips and tips. I am talking today about what it looks like to have a doula coach as a private doula coach in your business. And the reason that I'm talking about this today is in a couple weeks, you're going to get to hear from my doula coaching client, Becky, who is based in LA and has been doing amazing things in her business this year.

And I want you to get a sense of what it even is that's offered in private coaching for a doula. So what private coaching looks like is it looks like six months of support for the doula. So that is typically three months worth of meetings.

So we're meeting coaching every other week and a total of four, five, six, seven, eight hours of coaching. So there's a two hour meeting at the beginning and then one hour meetings in between. And then the last one is another two hour meeting.

And then you have access to ask me questions and send me messages for the remainder of that six month time. So you kind of have like a game plan at the end and then ways to get in touch with me to troubleshoot that game plan as you're implementing it.

Now who this is good for? This is good for someone who is needing to revamp stuff in their business. Either you're like, I had a good place and you're like, I don't know where to go from here. Like I don't know what my next step should be.

Or you're wanting to do something like add a virtual offering or start having a new email list that you have never had before or you're wanting to use automations in your business for the first time.

You need your forums to be online instead of in person. These are all things that we worked on that Becky and I worked on and things that I have been doing in my business for years. And so these are things that can make your business easier, more effective, smoother, etc.

And that's the kind of stuff that we can work on together. Now because it's one on one, it's also way more specific than when I have done group coaching, right? Group coaching, there's questions, there's answers, we're chatting, we're talking about wins and goals and all of that.

But in individual coaching, there is also time to be like, okay, let's share the screen and figure that out together, right? Because I'm just digging into your business with you. It's nobody else. So we're having time to really get into the nitty gritty of like, what does that email look like?

And when are you going to send in? What is your strategy? So that kind of information is not something that we can always do in a group setting because you just don't get as much one on one attention, right?

As much individual time with me. The other thing that I want you to think about is if you're kind of looking at your business and saying okay This is growing slowly, but I need it to grow faster That is a good time for for individual coaching if you're looking and saying okay This is this business is great But I'm doing a whole bunch of something that I don't like and I'm not doing enough of something that I do like and I Want to I want to pivot right and I want to have some guidance on how to do that That is when individual coaching would be helpful for you, right?

If you're thinking I need to add on new services, but I'm not sure what services to add. I'm not sure when to add them I'm not sure if I need certifications or not for adding them I'm not sure how to market to the people I currently have those are all Good reasons to have private coaching when you think about your business.

It is so easy to Think about your business in a vacuum, right? My Dear friend has said to me when you are working on your own business and you don't have someone else looking at it It's like you're trying to read the label from the inside of the bottle, right?

Like you are so entrenched in your business that it is hard to see what's on the outside and what needs to shift That is where coaching is Kind of that's like the coaching magic sweet spot, right where a coach comes in and says, hey This is amazing You're doing great and I want you to add this one thing to that that you're doing and then you're like, oh my gosh How have I never thought of that?

Right? How have I never considered adding that thing and then? This coach can give you the steps to do that. It's not just saying like, you know what, I think you should have an email list but also saying like you should have an email list and How are we gonna set that up and how are we gonna get that to work for you so that you do not have to do it?

so that you're not working on your own on it because that is Unhelpful and exhausting and a lot of work and if your business is going to grow you need to be working smarter and not harder Okay Now, the other thing that private coaching has is constant access to feedback.

So you can send me your website, you can send me your packages, you can send me whatever it is that you want feedback on and I can send you back feedback. I can say, okay, yeah, this looks amazing. I love this brochure, I love this whatever, but this thing is too small or that font is really hard to read or whatever.

That is part of the coaching that you get as well so that you get actual like hands -on support as you're implementing something. So you're not just like generally thinking, okay, I need to have a freebie of some kind.

And then you're saying like, okay, I guess I'll make my own and hopefully it's fine. No, you're getting step -by -step guidance in that. And that is a huge piece of the success around it is that you're not inventing it from scratch and also you're not just guessing what it should look like and how it should function.

As a person who had to teach myself all of this stuff, honestly, it is incredibly challenging and I wanna save you that work. Like that is where I come in as a coach is to keep you from inventing all that work on your own.

Okay, now I have openings right now for new private coaching clients. So I have two openings coming up for the summertime and it's an application process. So I would love for you to reach out and let me know if you're interested in it.

And then I would love for you to apply and see if you are a good fit for the coaching program and if I'm a good fit to be your coach. And then work together and make your business dreams come true because who doesn't want a better, bigger, more lucrative, more successful, more sustainable doula business.

That is everyone's dream. So that is what I would love to do with you. I would also love for you to just consider at what point is guidance and coaching going to help you in your business because there's going to become a point where that is going to be helpful for you.

And it might not be now, it might not be today, but it is going to come and I want you to be ready to say yes to the right person when you're at the place of needing guidance and coaching. Okay, now if you have not yet joined my newsletter list, I would love for you to do that right now.
