Are you Ever Going to Actually Use That Certification?

How many certifications do you have? Are you using them?? I say this with all the kindness in the world: STOP collecting certifications until you use the ones you have! Learn to perfect your work as doula and stop validating yourself with new teachings and certifications. Take a break, look at what you already do or can do well, and then lean into that before you pay for another training or certification.

“I recently found that the number of doulas I know who have some kind of amazing certification that they literally have never used is shocking to me, like truly shocking to me. And I think there's a couple of different reasons for this. And I totally understand if you get a certification and then you're like, hmm, I don't think I'm going to actually use that thing. Like that service I actually don't want to do, that makes sense, right? That I have a lot of compassion for. I have a lot of understanding for. If you have a certification and you're actually like, I don't use the certification because I just don't take the time to use it. Like I just haven't set up the slides or I haven't like set up the class structure. I haven't like put it out there for people to hire. That my friend is holding you back, holding your business back.”
